Multiple referrals can be grouped together in an Episode by assigning those referrals the same Episode number. Previously, custom referral data fields (managed in Tracking Data) could only apply to an individual referral. There was no way to enter a value for a custom referral data field and apply that value to all of the referrals in the same episode. Instead, a user would have to enter that same information separately on each of the referrals of the episode.
With the new episode-level data functionality, a health plan can designate custom referral data fields as applying to the entire episode. Using an episode-level data field, the user only has to enter the value once for the entire episode. This feature is enabled on a per-field basis: some fields can stay referral-level (i.e., user enters the data into each separate referral) while other fields will be episode-level. This configuration is performed by the Account Manager.
